Maybe you've mastered the perfect latte and even your own cold brew. Now it's time to make your own caramel syrup. It's as easy as can be and only takes three ingredients that you very likely have on hand, so really there's nothing stopping you!

Have you made this yet? Let us know how it went in the comments below!

Yields: 1 cup

Prep Time: 5 mins

Total Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 c.

    granulated sugar

  • 1 c.

    water, divided

  • 1 tsp.

    pure vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and ½ cup water. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and maintain a low boil. Let boil, stirring as little as possible, until mixture is a golden amber color.
  2. Remove from heat and very carefully and slowly, add remaining ½ cup of water. Mixture will steam and splatter. Aim for the side of the pan as you pour in water to reduce splattering. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Allow mixture to cool completely before transferring to another container and storing in the refrigerator.
